Although they are not free as they were a few years back, they have been way more expensive the last two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><br \/>Below are some details as to how to renew or file for a PTIN from the IRS.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>Paid tax return preparers with a PTIN expiring on Dec. 31, 2023, should use the\u00a0<a title=\"PTIN Requirements for Tax Return Preparers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/tax-professionals\/ptin-requirements-for-tax-return-preparers\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"8f6e014d-00da-4505-aec4-ad1598dbee82\">online renewal process<\/a>, which takes about 15 minutes to complete.
